I totally understand your disappointment however the update cannot be enabled via Firmware unfortunately, so its quicker and easier just to simply return the device to your retailer.

If you would prefer not to get a replacement from an online reseller in case you have a similar issue, as mentioned you could pick it up from a Sony Centre or any other good High Street retailer and have them test it before you leave the store just to confirm you have it. It should be there out of the box as its been there since launch in March, so whilst a firmware update isn't mandatory, its obviously recommended.

    Thanks

    Same deal.

Purchased from Amazon, UK plug, UK Internet Provider, Latest Firmware, iPlayer advertised - BUT NOT AVAILABLE.

Amazon's response is to contact Sony.....

Come on Sony - pull your finger out and release a fix.

Whereas a swapover could be resolved by this weekend or less if you pickup a replacement from the high street, a software fix (even if  it were possible) would take far longer, thus its quicker for anyone who  does have an affected unit to return it.

    Thanks

Yes, Amazon said to contact Sony as this would have been the quickest way to resolve the problem. Sony's reply was to contact Amazon and ask for a refund or a replacement!!

At this point I think I'll send it back and ask for a refund, but I am really disappointed to say the least.

Return it to the retailer. Is this offical advice from Sony to all retailers including online ones like play.com?

Is Sony prepared to issue a formal statement to that effect - to assit with the obvious reluctance of retailers who will end up with units that are not capable of delivering iPlayer?

By the way, given that these are UK units - plugs and box descriptions - who made the actual error here?

I have exactly the same problem purchased from Amazon delivered today. A friend purchased the same device from Amazon about 3 weeks ago - no problems. I think anyone with a player without the iplayer facility should

register the fact here in the hope that a show of strength will force Sony to make a quick fix available.

Took delivery of this model today with UK plug and IPlayer adverts on the packaging. UK based ISP. Updated the firmware and Still No Iplayer. All other services are fine.

HOWEVER, the interesting thing is that I bought this unit directly from SONY using my Sony credit card points I had collected ! Explain that one if you can !

I'll contact them and let you know the outcome.

I think this may be the Network update that took place when I first switched on my machine yesterday. Looking forward to Sony's response

    Hi All

Thank you everyone for your comments and feedback so far.

Any forum member with a box that has the iPlayer logo and no icon under video, please contact your supplier

If members have a product with no logo on the box, but a UK plug, please ask your supplier where they purchased there stock.

There are 2 different issues here and they need to be raised via the supply as this cant be fixed on none UK specification players.  They have to be faulty or not configured for UK services.

I have just got my BDP-S370 from Amazon and guess what no BBC Iplayer

I phoned Sony Customer support they said leave the unit in standby for 24 hours and see if that works, so will give it a try..

    Fingers Crossed it works..

    Hi Bobsony

Sony Centres are not owned or controlled by Sony, as an indipendant dealer I would not expect them to take on someone elses sale and resolve it for them, I would advise you contact Amazon and advise them of your issue, if they have had a bad batch or supplied incorrect stock, i would image they are working on it already.

Hi thanks for the prompt response.

I got mine from play.com - it would appear that it is not only Amazon who have an issue - seems to be a bigger problem

    regards

    Bob

    Come on Sony

We are buying these players from a UK retailer and they have a great big picture of the iplayer logo on the box. You can't tell us that we have to waste time trailing around trying to sort it out. Just fix it. Oh - and your web site for registration doesn't seem to work either. Or the ipod remote app. All in all this sort of stuff just kills the user experience and customer experience.
