Hi,

My 1 year old Sony Vaio above model, suddenly stooped booting. It has the green light on start button, but does not start. I have managed to start it with screen at 30 degree angle. But as soon as I strat to lift the lid further it switches off.

I need to know what can be wrong.

    Hi Sujkoneru,

When you try to boot the notebook can you see any hard disk activity – i.e. flashing LED? It could be that the computer is booting but there is no screen display.

From your description it would seem to be a hardware problem - possibly a screen cabling issue.

If is the case and it is within the warranty period then contact Support using the link at the top of this page. Otherwise you may wish to contact one of the Sony service partners or an independent repairer.

If for any reason you dropped your PC while it was running or even bumped it then the hard drive could possibly be damaged. This is the primary cause for BSOD on notebook PC's, this is why SSD drives are so popular with laptops.

Secondary causes for BSOD are hardware failures but there are a few things you can try first such as booting to safe mode and selecting a previous restore point before the actual failure happened, this could eliminate any possible software causes for BSOD.
