Hey,

I was wondering since the VAIO button settings can be modified through the control center, is there any way to make it into a desktop shortcut, similar to the button on the bottom right corner on windows 7? If so how?

Cheers,

Venator

    Hi Venator,

    The following works under Vista (should also work for Win7) using either the S1 or S2 buttons.

    Open Notepad and the copy and paste the following:

    [Shell]
    Command=2
    IconFile=explorer.exe,3
    [Taskbar]
    Command=ToggleDesktop

    Save the file (on the Desktop) as:

    Show desktop.scf

    The Show Desktop icon will appear on the Desktop.

    Open Vaio Control Center and under the button options select ‘Launch Application’ > Click ‘Settings’ > and navigate to Desktop > to the right of ‘File name’ select ‘All files’ from the drop down menu > Click on the ‘Show Desktop’ icon > Click Open then click OK and Apply.

    If that fails to work you may first need to manually create a taskbar shortcut. Have a look at the following link for details of how to do this.

    Also, if you have other programs that can modify key functions, you will be able to change it even your volume up and down buttons.
